For those whose Android BBM just either return to previous menu or stopped working when trying to change BBM picture, maybe this tricks will help you. As Oct 26, 2013 @ 11:38 (GMT+7), latest Android BBM version is 1.0.0.72. This trick only work on a rooted device.
- Create a square jpg file from your photo. I just use size and resolution of other files in /data/data/com.bbm/files/ as reference (341×341 px, with 96 dpi).
- Copy the jpg file to /data/data/com.bbm/files/default_avatar_xx.jpg (xx = next available sequnce of file number on the folder).
- Change the permission and ownership of new file, just use another file in the folder/directory as your reference.
- The new image should be available in your “Sample Picture”.
- Follow the http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB35260 direction.
Tools:
- GIMP, or other graphic editor
- Root Explorer, or use your favorite android file manager
Tips: copy the file from step 1 (e.g. from your PC/notebook) to your device by connecting it as USB storage.
